Overview

What we do, windows

01

We replace tired, draughty windows with made-to-measure units engineered for modern thermal performance, security and quiet. Every frame is manufactured to the exact opening, no off-the-shelf compromises, and installed by employed fitters who have been with us for years, not sub-contracted labour.

02

This service is for homeowners in Kent, London, Surrey and the wider South East who want a single accountable installer for the full job: survey, manufacture, removal of the old units, fitting, making good, FENSA certification and after-care. Landlords and small commercial premises are welcome too.

03

Most people call us when condensation between panes, failing hinges, rising energy bills or a home extension force the issue. Professional installation matters here: a poor fit undoes every gain a good window promises, cold bridging, water ingress at the reveals, and voided glass guarantees are all avoidable with the right survey and a fitter who takes the time to pack, seal and finish correctly.

Why it matters

What happens if you leave it

Windows are the single largest heat-loss route in a typical home after the roof. Once seals fail or trickle vents clog, heating costs climb quietly year after year while rooms feel colder at the same thermostat setting.

Ignored problems escalate. A blown double-glazed unit is a sealed-unit swap today; leave it, and moisture tracks into the frame and reveal, rotting timber sub-frames, staining plaster and, on ground floors, inviting mould around the cill. Failing multi-point locks and old euro cylinders are the most common forced-entry points in UK domestic burglaries; upgrading to modern anti-snap, anti-bump cylinders is a straightforward fix that too many homeowners defer.

The most common mistake we correct is buying on headline price from a national sales-led firm, then discovering the quote excluded scaffolding, making good, or FENSA certification. Our fixed price includes all of it.

Our process

From first call to sign-off

  1. STEP 1

    Sales representative visit

One of our sales representatives comes out first to walk the property, understand what you want, talk through options, materials and finishes, and outline indicative pricing. No pressure, no time-limited discounts.

  2. STEP 2

    Surveyor & fixed written quote

If you want to proceed, our surveyor attends separately to measure every opening precisely, check structural context (lintels, thresholds, reveals) and lock in the specification. You then receive a fixed written quote to compare like-for-like.

  3. STEP 3

    Manufacture

Frames are made to your survey dimensions by our accredited fabricators. Typical lead time is three to five weeks; we confirm a fitting date the moment stock lands.

  4. STEP 4

    In-house fitting team install

Employed fitters remove the old units, install and pack the new frames level and plumb, foam and seal the perimeter, and make good internal reveals and external mastic.

  5. STEP 5

    Sign-off, FENSA & guarantee

We test every opener and lock, hand over care instructions, register the installation with FENSA, and issue your 10-year Swift guarantee covering workmanship, frames and glass.

Benefits

What you actually get

Warmer rooms

Modern A-rated glazing with argon fill and warm-edge spacers dramatically reduces conductive heat loss compared with 1990s and early-2000s units.

Quieter interiors

Acoustic-laminate options cut traffic and flight-path noise, worthwhile near the A2, M25 corridor and under London approach paths.

Real security

Multi-point locking, internally-beaded frames and Secured-by-Design-compatible cylinders make forced entry significantly harder.

Lower running costs

Sealed frames, working trickle vents and A-rated glass reduce reliance on heating without touching your boiler or radiators.

Longevity

Quality profiles, correctly packed and drained, last 25–30 years. Guarantees only matter if the installer will still be here, we have been since 1998.

One accountable team

Survey, supply, fit, make good and certification are all Swift. If anything needs attention afterwards, one phone call resolves it.

Specification

Windows, how we specify

Windows is a broad category. The right specification depends on the property's age, orientation, planning context and how you actually live in each room. Below is how we think about it before quoting.

Materials & profiles

We install uPVC in smooth white, foiled woodgrains and heritage colours; aluminium with slim polyamide-broken sightlines for extensions and contemporary properties; and timber-effect systems where planning demands a traditional look. Each system has a place, uPVC for value and thermal performance, aluminium for slim frames and large openings, timber-effect for conservation areas.

Casement, sash, tilt-and-turn

Casement is the workhorse and suits most post-war properties. Sliding sash reproduces Victorian and Edwardian frontages, critical in conservation areas across parts of Bromley, Sevenoaks and inner London. Tilt-and-turn is our recommendation for upper-storey rooms where cleaning access matters and for fire-escape compliance.

Glass specification

Standard A-rated argon-filled units are our baseline. Beyond that we specify acoustic laminate for noisy roads, solar-control coatings for south-facing rooms that overheat, obscure patterns for bathrooms and side-passages, Georgian bars for period matching, and toughened or laminated safety glass wherever building regulations require it (low-level, near doors, on stairs).

Conservation & planning

Parts of our coverage sit within conservation areas or Article 4 directions. We have supplied timber-look sash and casement windows that satisfied planners in Sevenoaks, Chislehurst and Beckenham. If your street looks period-sensitive, tell us at survey, we will flag any consent requirement rather than let you discover it later.

Residential vs commercial

Small commercial premises, shopfronts, offices above retail, HMOs, carry additional obligations around means of escape, fire glass and Part L thermal targets. We can quote to commercial specifications and handle the associated paperwork.

FAQ

Common questions

How much do replacement windows cost in Kent, London or Surrey?

+

Every home is different, so we do not publish rates. Price depends on size, specification, glass, access and any structural work involved. Request a free survey and we will issue a fixed written quote before any work starts.

How long does a typical installation take?

+

A full-house replacement of eight to twelve windows is usually completed in one to three days on site once your frames are in. Manufacture takes three to five weeks; we confirm a fitting date as soon as stock lands so you can plan around it.

Do you handle FENSA certification?

+

Yes. We are FENSA registered and self-certify every installation for building regulations compliance. Your FENSA certificate is issued directly to you after completion, you will need it if you sell.

What guarantee do I get?

+

One 10-year Swift guarantee covering workmanship, frames, sealed units and hardware, with any manufacturer cover included inside those 10 years. Because we have been trading as Swift Home Improvements Ltd (company number 03679915) since 1998, that guarantee is backed by a business that will still be here to honour it.

How long should new windows last?

+

Correctly specified and fitted modern windows should give 25–30 years of service. Hardware may need routine maintenance every few years, hinges lubricated, gaskets checked, which is straightforward and inexpensive.

Do you offer emergency repairs on existing windows?

+

We only carry out repairs on windows we originally installed. If Swift fitted your windows, we prioritise callouts inside your 10-year guarantee. We do not attend emergency repairs on windows installed by other companies.

Can you match windows in a conservation area?

+

Yes. We regularly supply timber-effect sliding sash and casement windows that meet conservation officer requirements in Sevenoaks, Chislehurst, Beckenham and inner London boroughs. We will flag any planning or Article 4 requirement at survey.

Are you fully insured?

+

Yes, £5 million Public Liability and £10 million Employers' Liability. Certificates are available on request before you accept a quote.

Do you cover my area?

+

We cover London, Kent, Surrey and the wider South East from our Greenhithe base. If you are within a comfortable radius of DA9 we will quote, call 01322 221010 if you are unsure.
